Kirsten Van Detta, the founder of KVD Consulting, isn't your typical consultant. In fact, she wishes there was another name for the work she wants to do for the industry she loves.
But “Guide and friend who helps you get rid of things you don’t need and focus on the things you do so you can prove your relevance with great success” is a really long title. So we’ll stick with Consultant but she's really more like your trusted guide through the maze of business and technology.
After working with 300+ DMOs and large enterprise organizations, like the University of Arizona and LinkedIn, the patterns have emerged and she is determined to use her expertise and experience to help DMOs morph into flexible, agile, and adaptable digital organizations so that you can more easily emerge from macroeconomic headwinds, technology shifts, and crises unscathed.
It’s a lofty goal for sure but moonshots are how we push ourselves further than we ever thought possible. Moonshots are her comfort zone.
Why does Kirsten care so much about the Travel and Tourism space? She could take her expertise anywhere. Why DMOs?
Because she wholeheartedly believes that the work DMOs do is crucial for destinations and visitors alike.
As Maura Allen Gast said:
Build a place where people want to visit, and you’ll build a place where people want to live.
Build a place where people want to live, and you’ll build a place where people want to work.
Build a place where people want to work, and you’ll build a place where business has to be.
Build a place where business has to be, and you’ll build a place where people have to visit.
It all starts with the visit, and the visit starts with us.”
DMOs have essential changes ahead of them as the world demands sustainability and long-term thinking over marketing to hit metrics that do not serve the holistic need of the destination. KVD Consulting will be a partner in navigating those changes towards a more sustainable destination stewardship.
For nearly a decade, we've been deeply rooted in the world of Destination Management Organizations (DMOs). Combined with strong product management expertise, we've learned that while technology can powerfully augment your team, internal tooling strategies are most successful when they are rooted in three key drivers of success: People, Technology, and Data.
Our passion lies in helping DMOs make informed choices and crafting strategies that ensure technology investments yield real value. We believe in the power of purpose-driven, people-first tech adoption where your team is empowered by technology, not powering your technology.
We're not here to sell you services. We believe in your mission so deeply, it drives our own. And we know the expectations of you are high, from your communities, visitors, local leaders, and yourselves.
As you embrace the evolution of the DMO industry, you need strong partners who believe in your value and want to help you see it through.
We care about what you care about.
Your challenges are our challenges.
Your mission is our mission.
From Hawaii to Seattle to New York to South Africa, we have worked with DMOs the world over to deliver powerful technology that delivers for Sales, Services, Partnership, and Marketing.
Kirsten has spent over a decade perfecting her craft, and it's not just theory; it's real-world mastery. She's the author of countless successful product stories, each one a testament to her ability to steer the ship through uncharted waters.

But what truly sets her apart is her deep understanding of Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs). It's not just a niche for her; it's a passion.
In the world of ever-evolving technology, Kirsten is your compass. She knows how to build user-centric solutions, construct internal tech solutions, seamlessly integrating them with third-party tools for maximum efficiency. No jargon, just practical know-how.
As for the art of conversation, Kirsten doesn't just speak your language; she listens. When you work with her, you're not just a client; you're a collaborator in the journey of solving real problems.
She's your partner in orchestrating success. Let's create something amazing together.
